I was very excited about this printer and out of the box it is beautiful. Easy set-up and all worked well except for the ADF function. I bought the printer in July of 2015 but never had any reason to use the ADF until 8 months later during tax season. The first page as it begins to feed consistently gets stuck every time. I'm not happy and I wished I had tested it when I first got it so I could return it. Unfortunately I need to manually copy each page one at a time ... Oh well ... lesson learned .... BTW I did not remove the plastic feed tab as designated in the unpacking directions ...

This is the 4th HP printer we have had. The first 3 were ink jet 4 in 1. This is the first laser printer for our small office. We have had it for about 60 days and use it regularly all day 5 days a week. The clarity and speed are outstanding. I hope they continue this model for small office and home use. Easy to set up and easy to use.

If this printer is working it's great. However, if you experience a paper jam the internal design of this printer is the most god awful configuration ever. HP was nice enough to inform you how to clear a paper jam at each location of the printer, but what they neglected to mention is that if you experience a jam at the fuser, there is a chance that the feeder will just keep on shoving paper towards the output tray; the results of which are being unable to grab any paper from the rear door and after having crammed 11 inches of paper into a 2 inch opening you won't be able to get the paper out of the output feeder either.
There is literally a steel cross support that the paper gets stuck behind and which is screwed in place from both sides of the panel, if you want to remove that piece so you can actually get to the page that is stuck you have to remove every component from the printer.
You have to figure that at some point you are going to experience a paper jam, if when that happens you don't want to have to face the alternative of buying a new printer, taking your printer in to a repair shop or managing all 6,000 components of the printer so you can disassemble and reassemble it yourself I would suggest choosing a different product.

I used office jet for years. I would buy only office jet due to not printing photos and mainly printing black and white text documents. I also only buy individual ink printers. No multiple color cartridges for me. Its not worth it.
This machine has super fast scanning and the printing is very nice. It prints faster than my previous office jet. It scans 100x faster than my previous office jet. I scanned all of my notes/quizzes/homework from 1 semester in under 15 mins into a PDF file. That was over 300 pages. I was very impressed. I have not delved into all the features yet, but I'm pleasantly surprised by it so far. Amazon had it for 100$ off so i was a happy camper after I got sick of highlighting ink jet printouts and the ink smearing. That is the main reason i went laser. NO MORE SMEARS!
Cons: It could hold more paper. My office jet ink jet from 3 years ago holds almost a ream. This one holds 20% of a ream, if that. Thats my only complaint, so far.

Being a high school student in honors courses, I need a printer that is able to keep up with the amount of paper I go through-easily up to 10-15 reams per year. Previously, we have gone through several inkjet printers over the past three years or so, and each one required new ink after just a month or two, which got to be way too expensive. We would have purchased a laser printer initially, but generally, they are too expensive for what we need, and that's when I found this. Not only is it a good value, but everything about it performs well, starting with Wi-Fi. Some printers tend to buffer when printing over the network, but not this one, assuming due to the higher amount of RAM. Pages simply shoot out page after page until the job is complete. Secondly, the toner life is exceptional. As I mentioned, my inkjet printers required ink replacements fairly often. Meanwhile, after owning this printer for over a month and printing almost a full ream of paper, the set-up cartridges have barely decreased, with constant calibration involved as well. Next up, the scanner. I was a bit hesitant to buy this scanner, because in the past, the scanners on HP's were rather low quality, but now, this one is not only blazing fast, but is also super crisp and vivid. This, of course applies to copies as well. And finally, the actual printing. It is fast, quiet, and high quality. I print photos a lot, and the pictures which are outputted almost look better than ones printed on high-end photo paper. And for duplex mode, I couldn't be happier. This is probably the fastest duplex printing I've seen on a color laser MFP. Now, there are two minor complaints that I have. First off, the colors aren't always as accurate as they could be. I.E. sometimes purples look more like blue, and in some darker photos, details and lines become hard to denote. Granted, this could be due to the set-up cartridges and/or color scheming. Secondly, at times, when the printer detects a connection, or even when it sometimes doesn't, the screen turns on with a click, which isn't a big deal whatsoever-just not sure why. All in all, exceptional printer for the value, and I highly recommend it to people who need to print a lot of documents or simply are in the market for a laser printer.
