In comparison to other manufacturers this is the highest price for the least value but hp selectively does not offer a 3 year warranty at a comparable price. So if this configuration is your choice you take what you can get, the product is good otherwise.

When I went to register the product it wouldn't go through, turns out that what the web site let me buy is 2 years of protection 'starting from the purchase date'. In other words it was useless. After over an hour on the phone I was able to get a credit on my $107 two year protection policy and buy a $169 one year policy. HP don't offer products that don't apply to the device you own!
