Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Value and Very Good Support In the days of the desktop computer dominance, the thought of buying a service contract was silly (even though a desktop back then a desktop computer had cost as much as a laptop today, on the average). Repairing a desktop meant swapping out components on the fly but a laptop's integrated components make that chore impossible for the typical consumer, which makes a service contract a necessity. In contrast to other service contracts out there, the HP Care Pack offers complete support when there is trouble. That is, the other contracts that are offered is limited to hardware support, which leaves the user without help when there is confusion when trouble arises. I found that, with the exception of intermittent issues (which could not be duplicated by the service technician), the HP Care Pack service was excellent in returning the laptop in excellent working condition. Rated 2 out of 5 by Warranty Service Was NOT Onsite I used this warranty when my Pavilion laptop screen failed recently. Unfortunately this repair did not qualify for ONSITE repair service. The only allowable option was to mail the laptop to the HP repair center. Repair was successful. Total waiting time was almost 2 weeks. July 18, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by Warranty Unclear It is unclear to me the actual warranty coverage duration. The laptop I bought came with a 1 year warranty on the non-accidental portion of the system. So does the base portion of the extended warrantee cover year 2-4? This is not very clear even for the standard (non-accidental) extended Warrantee. Assuming that the warrantee only covers years 1-3 I would have preferred if there was a four year warranty option. I was buying the laptop for my kid going off to college and would have like the peace of mind to know that the laptop was covered for all four years. August 29, 2013
