    great laptop/2-in-1 with few drawbacks

Summary: This laptop/2-in-1 is a great buy, but only when you upgrade its system drive to an m.2 pcie nvme SSD and are only using it indoor.it has a really good price to performance/feature ratio for laptops/2-in-1s that cost under 1k. The ram is in 2x4gb instead of 1x8gb like they said on the website. Pros: -snappy cpu, on par with the i5-8250Us that you see on the market. -decent GPU for its price, at least on paper and in benchmarks (about 950m's level). -RAM are in dual channel (2x4gb) instead of 1x8gb that HP said on the website, however, this means upgrading the laptop to 16gb (2x8gb) will be costly. -It comes with a STYLUS! this should be mandatory on all 2-in-1s. -good build quality (but don't expect it to be like a xps 15 or surface book) -decent speakers for its price -has windows hello feature Cons: -the display. this is where HP has seriously cheaped out the parts where they shouldn't. The display is below average compared to its competitors. The screen is really dim (200 nit is barely usable indoor), and you'll have to turn the brightness to 80%+ to make it usable at indoor. If you are using it outdoor, just forget about it. The screen's sRGB color accuracy is also below average for an ips panel. Out of the box, it has a reddish color, and it is still noticeable even after a color calibration. It is still way better than the cheapo wled screen that you get at 800$ laptops though. -The boot drive isn't an SSD. Since there's no space to upgrade the RAM, you'll pretty much have to upgrade the boot drive to a m.2 pcie nvme SSD sooner or later guaranteed. Almost all other laptops in this price range use SSD as the boot drive, because this is the de facto whether a laptop will feel fast or not. This is also a really new hardware (new CPU and GPU), and the system updates will be frequent (an SSD will be much suitable than a HDD in this case). -8gb of RAM isn't enough considering the GPU does not have dedicated memory. HP should give us the option to choose the RAM in 2x4gb or 1x8gb configuration. 8gb is often not enough, causing the system to compress memory and use your system drive as the memory cache (hence losing performance). Therefore to minimize that, you'll pretty much have to upgrade the system boot drive to an M.2 pcie SSD (and possibly increase the virtual memory cache size as well) and good luck to the ones using HDD as the memory cache. Surely you can upgrade the ram, but you'll have to buy 2x8gb sticks which will be costly. -a touch slower wifi chip than its competitors even though you'll never notice in the actual use. It uses a realtek chip which is slower than the intel chip. -unreliable shipping time. It can be as short as 3 days or as long as 21 days.
